Sustainability: New Year New You

Starting off the new year with physical wellbeing may be one of the best ways to set yourself up for success in your personal life, career, academia, etc. Through a plethora of campus resources, you can make a resolution that is here to last!

One of the best methods to prioritize physical wellbeing is utilizing CSU’s state of the art recreation center. It is open to students off campus and on campus alike. Whether it be to get a workout in at the Rec center’s weightlifting area, or swim on the world class lap pools or even sign up for a trainer led group classes, these are great resources to manifest physical wellbeing in 2024. The link below delves more into the types of classes and the registration for said classes to ensure your spot is secure!

Furthermore, if the gym environment is not your speed, CSU is centrally located to a plethora of natural areas such as: Horsetooth reservoir, Pingree Park (including CSU mountain campus), Estes Park, etc. In most cases these natural areas can host paddleboarding, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and many other recreational outdoor activities. The CSU rec center outdoor gear rental service can assist in procurement of any equipment needed to springboard you into these activities. You can even buy a season pass from the OGR at CSU to keep up on gear rentals throughout the semester.

Combining physical activity with nutrition may be the best option to maximize physical wellbeing during the new year. The Eat Well @ CSU page has great resources for nutritious recipes, educational facets, dining hall menus, sustainable eats, etc. This is an excellent starting point for anyone wishing to focus more on eating sustainably while taking a positive approach to their health. In general, the CSU extension page (linked below) has many program links to Fort Collins nutrition programs as well as food sustainability information.
