It’s finally that time of year Rams! The ASCSU Spring Elections for your student government is here! ASCSU is responsible for funding so many important programs such as Ramride, student organizations, Transfort, the Rec Center, Rams Against Hunger, and so much more! Candidates for President and Vice President, Speaker of the Senate, and Senators have started campaigning; here is noteworthy information and updates about their campaigns:

  1. Election Dates: March 30th, March 31st, April 1st
    • Voting – directly through each individual’s ramweb
  2. How to Vote Instructions:
    • To vote and make your voice heard, first, login in to your ramweb. Go to the right side and click the menu button. After this, locate the “Vote” tab towards the bottom of the menu and vote for your preferred candidate. Students will be able to vote for Senators who are representing their academic college. Students will receive a confirmation email and will be able to show this email in the ASCSU office to receive a “I voted” sticker or a CSU spring T-shirt.
  3. Debates: how/when/where to watch
    • The ASCSU Candidate Debates are incredibly important to understanding and deciding who is your preferred candidate and which individuals uphold your priorities as a member of the student body. This year we are excited to announce that the ASCSU Debates will be broadcasted and live streamed by Collegian TV directly to their YouTube channel. Students can tune-in and ask questions on:
      • March 22nd: Speaker of the Senate Debate

Why should you vote?

Quotes
    1. Voting is a privilege we have, that not everyone has access to. We have the privilege of deciding who represents us based on what they stand for and are willing to fight for. If we want to change the world, we have to start by changing our community first.
    2. Voting is your voice. If you do not vote it much less likely for your voice to be heard. It also gives you a say on what is going on in the student government by choosing who is in charge of it and who represents you in your college.
    3. Students should vote because it has a direct impact on who represents you, and how student fees are spent. Voting is so crucial in making sure we are electing individuals that are promoting positive, progressive change regarding inclusion, equity, transparency, and belonging. Make sure to vote to let your voice be heard!!
    4. Students should vote because this simple act of decision making has a much wider impact than first meets the eye, students essentially have the power to solidify their identities within the greater narrative of CSU by providing their input on the direction of change. Personally, CSU has given me so much opportunity and has allowed me to become the person I am today and the least I can do to repay the institution is to vote.
