Spring into Sustainability

With Spring right around the corner, it is a great time to recognize how we engage with our surroundings in ways that not only benefit our personal wellbeing but the wellbeing of the planet as well. Here are some great resources to get involved in at CSU to promote holistic health.

A great starting point to engage in sustainability is to look out for events and programs hosted by the Eco Leaders on your building’s digital signs. The Eco Leaders are sustainability residential educators for CSU’s residence halls. Be sure to engage with the Eco Leaders through their various campaigns like the Zero Waste Game or events like Environmental Eats. There is one Eco Leader in each Residence Hall and four in Aggie Village Apartments.

Another great way to get hands-on experience with environmental sustainability is the CSU student chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration. The SER student chapter offers in person events such as tree-planting (on and off campus), hosts guest speakers, and brings students together with sustainability professionals to tackle environmental challenges. This is a great method for networking, and offers something for all students of different backgrounds.

Focusing on personal wellbeing during exam season, CSU offers a variety of resources for tutoring and studying. One such resource is The Institute for Learning and Teaching (TILT). TILT offers tutoring for graduate and undergraduate students as well as group learning sessions. Also, TILT has a wide variety of online resources such as their “study skills” resource page.

CSU’s rec center also offers various intramural sports and leagues to get involved in some outdoor activity. The rec center website offers information regarding these leagues, how to sign up, and their pledge to inclusivity through sports. The CSU rec center also offers various amenities such as a lap pool, fully-equipped weight rooms, and a track just to mention a few.

The CSU Health Network offers a portal called YOU@CSU to provide campus resources, evidence-based/informed original content and tools to increase student success around academics, physical and mental health, and purpose (community, social). Users can learn new skills, get advice, set goals, puruse useful and relateable content or search for something specific. The innovative digital tool promotes self- reflection, allowing students to be more proactive with their health and well-being in order to make the most of their college experience.
